About Me
Meet Jen Rafael
I’m the founder of Math Mentors, but more than that—I’m a lifelong learner who lights up when kids light up. For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with students in Vacaville and throughout Solano County, helping them not only understand math but feel good about it.
The heart of my work is connection. I believe that kids learn best when they feel seen, supported, and safe to make mistakes. My favorite thing in the world? It’s that moment when a student gets it—you know what I mean. Their eyes widen, their face brightens, and suddenly they’re smiling from ear to ear. That’s the magic that keeps me going every day!
More Than Math
While I specialize in math instruction, what I truly teach is confidence, perseverance, and curiosity. Whether I’m helping with homework or supporting homeschool families, I bring patience, humor, and a mindset that mistakes are just stepping stones.
Outside of tutoring, I’m deeply involved in the Vacaville community—as a former classroom teacher, youth cheer coach, Odyssey of the Mind coach, and someone who believes deeply in the power of creativity and problem-solving.
What Makes Math Mentors Different
At Math Mentors, every session is personalized, encouraging, and grounded in trust. I take time to get to know your child—how they think, what excites them, and where they feel stuck—so we can move forward with clarity and confidence.
This isn’t just tutoring. This is mentorship. And my goal is to make sure each child walks away not only understanding the material—but believing in themselves.
Let’s build something together—one math problem, one lightbulb moment, and one big smile at a time.
